The Dauphin Clan

The Dauphin Clan!!

We all flew into Phoenix – For a great get together and fun

The weather was perfect – Not too hot and plenty of sun

Neal and Sheron hosted us – With Pizza and beer at their house

We all were quite excited – Believe it or not, every single spouse!!

Tracy was there with Leander – Whom Honey and I had never met

There was Nadine, their oldest daughter – And Milo, Mr. High Energy you can bet

And I can’t forget Olin – A true artist, you could see at a glance

And Lyle, the athlete of the family – On a soccer field he can prance!!

Tracy was overheard saying – “I wasn’t planning on having any kids”

Your body is like a boiling pot – Sometimes you have to put on the lid

I for one was glad she did – For the excitement that they brought

Everyone got along so well – Unbelievable, they never fought!!

We can’t forget Simone and Jim – Along with Michael and the Little Guy

The last time I saw Cameron – He was a skinny five year old small fry

Now he’s almost six feet tall – But still a polite and friendly kid

Along with his brother Michael – Who’s a star lineman on the football grid!!

Simone showed some of her dance moves – And led us in a song

When your singing around a fire pit – Who cares if the words are wrong

Amy and Kevin and “Spencer Bud” – That’s what I call their son

He’s a cute little go getter – Who’s always on the run!!

Amy had on a special shirt – Which went over everybody’s head

It was a scan of the coming attraction – Spencer Bud will giving up his baby bed

Alex was there with Joelle – The new love of his life

There was much quiet speculation – About Joelle becoming his wife!!

But I am no rumor monger – Just a guy who turns words to rhyme

And a guy who teases his little brother – Pretty much all of the time

Eddie got out the Jet Ski – And pulled everyone around the lake

He tied on an inner tube – And bounced them through the wake!!

It truly was a big hit – When asked, every kid had fun

When Eddie got tired – Alex drove until the job was done

Stephanie was at the party – With Spencer Bud by the hand

She seemed to be his favorite – She reacted to do his every command!!

We went to a Cowboy Bar – Which featured watching Bull Rides

At one point we lost Cameron – Jim started looking a little wide eyed

But everything turned out okay – Cameron was enjoying the night

Watching the bull rides from under a tree – Totally unaware of the frantic sight!!

Richie and Joan also attended – With a wonderful, wonderful surprise

A song about the Mighty Dauphin’s – Which we sang with tears in our eyes

But first there was a rehearsal – Where the young kids learned the song

Once a teacher, always a teacher – No one got anything wrong

Richard caused quite a stir – He wanders off without a word

Suddenly Joan asks, “Where’s Richie” – And not a sound is heard!!

One time he was sitting in the van – Waiting for Joan, so he could go to bed

Another time he was sitting on a curb – Letting the sun shine on his head

Spencer Bud also disappeared – He was standing by Kevin’s car waiting to go

He’d heard that they were leaving – He didn’t want to hold up the show!!

Simone and her crew went horseback riding – Along with Stephanie, Alex and Joelle

But it also included throwing a tomahawk – And shooting a gun as well

I heard Alex scored the highest – With the gun and the tomahawk

Everyone had a real fun time – Which was really no big shock!!

Alex was wearing his colors – Of the gang in which he rides

That’s the Shakopee Fire Department – In his eyes you can see the pride

Neal, Joan and Marcia – Went to the Heard Museum along with me

They were having a Hopi carving show – Something we wanted to see!!

Honey bought some art work – You could see as she held it in her hand

That we were taking it home – When art attracts you, it’s a strong demand

Then the young kids went go carting – Which I hear was truly a blast

Once again Alex was a leader – Can this competitive spirit last!!

I guess it can, just take a look – Eddie would kill, just to win

Nothing is funnier than he and Steph – They start arguing before the game even begins

But all in all we had a blast – Ed and Cheryl provided Sunday Brunch

We were hungry and it hit the spot – We ate again and called it lunch!!

And suddenly it was over – As fast as it all began

Honey and I headed for the airport – As we bid farewell to all of our Clan

Everyone else went hiking with Neal – That is the under “60″ group

Neal said they were strung way out – He felt like he had an Army Troup!!

We came to many conclusions – In retrospect thinking back in review

Tracy and Leander should be proud – Of their polite and wonderful crew

Cameron and Michael were also fun – So Simone and Jim hold your heads high

I hope we can do it again soon – As I write this last line with a little sigh!!

Bud The Rhymer aka Bud aka Erv aka Erwin

P.S. Something I forgot

As I was standing in the shower – At the local sports and health club

I remembered something important – That I’d made somewhat of flub

I forgot Joan took pictures of the family – And published them in a book

A pictorial journey of the Dauphin’s – A lot of time it must of took

And it cost a little money – As they were bound and looked really nice

So Joany we thank you – And now this is the end twice!!

Congratulations Katherine!!

Weddings should be happy – No exception will this one be

They’re getting married in a barn – I must say, with a little glee

Katherine is my cousin – And she’s always been fun

Although she’s quiet natured – There’s a wild streak that would stun!!

Now here’s a little excitement – Something you all should know

Katherine, Kenny and Angela – Got PHD’s a short time ago

Katherine and Kenny in Pharmacy – And Angela is an M.D.

This is a family of scholars – As you can plainly see!!

Tomorrow at the Colonial Chapel – Katherine and Kenny will be wed

The reception is in the barn – Where you’ll receive a very nice spread

Just so you understand – I was kidding about the barn

It’s really a very nice place – But it helped me with this yarn!!

Katherine, I want you to know – Tomorrow, everything will be fine

Enjoy this wonderful day – Even the barn where we’ll all dine

And especially inKauai– Where you and Kenny will start anew

I wish you both a wonderful life – And I bless you both, through and through!!

Blue Gill Bill! In honor of Bill Erickson

Lion Bernie Bissonette made the invite – Asking Lion Bill to take a look

He visited and liked what he saw – It was good for the Lions this turn he took

He joined the Fridley Lions – And immediately became a force

Getting involved with the projects – Leading many of them, of course!!

First he became our Secretary – Keeping the records without fail

One month when things were slow – He fabricated the entire tale

Making up fictitious projects – But inserting real Lion names

Most of us thought it was funny – A couple members didn’t feel the same!!

We could count on Lion Bill – To get us off to the State Fair each year

Selling tickets on the Midway – And filling the booth with cheer

And when it came to the Assistance League – Our man Bill took the lead

No matter how early in the morning – He’d haul clothes if there was a need!!

Every member looked forward – When the frozen Blue Gills came in

To be passed out among the membership – On every face there was grin

And he loved to play his poker – With his Lion friends at night

One time things got topsy-turvey – Causing the boys a little fright!!

He took over as Gambling Manager – The club appreciated all he did

He was voted “Lion of the Year” – And not just once, heaven forbid

But three years total – Which is something to be quite proud of

Lion Bill took his service seriously – Like his fishing which he loves!!

He has many a story – With that big twinkle in his eye

Like the time he was pulling his boat – And saw it coming up on the side

The darn thing came unhitched – But it all worked out well

This is one of many tales – Our Blue Gill has lived to tell!!

There was the time on RushLake – When Bill and Craig, his son

Had finished up ice fishing – And Bill provided more fun

Craig looked back and saw it – As Bill went through the ice

Along with the four wheeler he was driving – He was backstroking to be precise!!

Although he’s slowed down a little – Having other things on his mind

We thought it right to recognize Lion Bill – Our friend who’s one of a kind

So Lion Bill we thank you – For being the great guy you are

A wonderful example of Lionism – You’ve truly raised the bar!!

3rd Zone Meeting

Our club has nominated – But no election has been held

For next year’s officers – This group looks unparalleled

We’ll have our 3rd reading – Within the restricted time

Our officers will be elected – Being late would be a crime!!

Our PU101 Form is completed – Our Secretary is totally on task

It’s been sent to the Governor and LCI – We’ve done all that you ask

Three brave members are in attendance – Do we get credit for the Region Chair

If so, then we have four – Not real well, but it does seem fair!!

Our membership has decreased by two – Since the start on July first

It’s the lowest we’ve been in years – And hopefully it won’t get any worse

We did have one new member – With another new member on deck

One has been inducted properly – By the Governor, if anyone wants to check!!

Our second half dues have been paid – To the District and International as well

We had a lovely night with the Governor – As anyone there would tell

His speech was very succinct – And if you don’t know what that means

It was clearly and briefly stated – Many times, that’s not the routine!!

Our Installation Night has been scheduled – It will be the 23rd of May

We have three members going to the Multiple Convention – Not much else to say

I’m hoping for a full contingent – It’s quite important, as we all know

For the Spring School of Instruction – I’ll work hard to make them show!!

Now on to the International Convention – It’s an important year for us all

No one has committed as yet – Which could be a large pitfall

The District Awards Night you ask – Do I plan to attend

As I recall it’s on June 12th – My calendar’s marked my friend!!

Do I have the 100% President and Secretary – Award forms filled out and signed

We’ve searched the Lions web sites– Can’t find them, going out of our mind

But the Zone Dog is looking – And assured me it would be in my hand

We’ll complete and hand them in – And anything else you might demand!!

Respectfullysubmitted,

Zone Dog – And one last item just for good measure

Thanks for shortening the meetings– This last year has been a pleasure!!

Respectfully
Submitted

President’s Column April 2006

If you missed Ladies Night – It’s too bad for you

14 couples participated – We had fun the whole night through

We ate at the Legion Hall – Then we all got on a bus

It really all went smooth – With no muss or fuss!!

Our seats were the best – Right down in the first two rows

Lions Toews and Kostick – Truly picked out a funny show

Everyone related and laughed – Some had tears in their eyes

I won’t give too much detail – Just ask one of the guys!!

If you are married – And over 50 years old

Then you and your loved ones – Didn’t need to be told

What they were laughing at – From the start to the end

And if you were Lutheran – There was more humor which to contend!!

Anyway, it was a nice evening – And all had fun with a laugh

With the club paying for the ladies – The price was cut in half

Then on Saturday,April 1st - Eight of us toured the U

The eye and ear research center – It’s amazing what they do!!

As a Lion we should all be proud – For the research we helped create

We were thanked over and over – For the money the Lions donate

And now to our next event – It might even be our Governors pet project

Sight First II on April 23rd – Where more money we can collect!!

It’s a walk at Minnehaha Falls – Lion Linder is in charge

Being a right hand Lion to the governor – Kind of like his Sarge

It’s an easy way to help – The Fridley Lions will sponsor you

Just show up and sign up – That’s all you have to do!!

Each of us that walks – And that includes you, a spouse or friend

The club donates $50 per person – Raising a lot of money in the end

And you also get a T-Shirt – And it really should be fun

And some of us need the exercise – Since we’re all too heavy to run!!

You’ll also get to meet Lions – From clubs all over the place

All with one common goal – Helping others, not just filling up space

So come on April 23rd – And be sure to bring a friend

Call Lions Steve or Bud – For questions on how to attend!!

A Toast To The Forgotten Woman!!

To the forgotten woman – And also a former Queen

Who helps out this King – In ways that are never seen

For she knows all the moves – To keep me in the game

I totally accept her expertise – Doing so without any shame!!

She keeps our house together – While being a wonderful mother as well

As you can see she’s a beauty – And physically fit as you can tell

She’s a fabulous cook and mom – As our children, George and Suzette will attest

She loves Elton John and Starbucks Coffee – At buying shoes, she’s the best!!

Without her help and guidance – I’d be helpless as can be

So I truly love this forgotten woman – As anyone can plainly see

So please all join with me – And raise your glasses high

To the very charming Suzette Coors – A toast from her loving guy!!

Graduation Announcement!

“Pinecone” Dillon Olson – I know many will not believe

Will actually be graduating – For some this might be hard to conceive

He didn’t want to send out announcements – But as his mom, I have the last word

So I’m sending out this rhyme – So at least you’ll all have heard!!

This has been no easy task – Four long years I’ve labored hard

Between school, sports and girls – I’ve been constantly on guard

I didn’t want him partying – For trouble is always near

And the pressure is incredible – From his friends and peers!!

And you know these kids are crazy – With ideas truly off the wall

When we were kids, no way – Did we spend this much time at the mall

We did have some funny moments – Like his first prom date last year

He looked like a deer in the headlights – In his eyes was nothing but fear!!

And I did enjoy the football – Although I worked hard to raise the dough

Running and coordinating events – As many of you already know

I am proud of his accomplishments – And the man he has become

He is always the “faithful leader” – On and off the field to the maximum!!

So when he stated quite smartly – No announcements was he sending out

I thought this is also my graduation – And I’ve still got a little clout

So, Dillon will be graduating – The Class of 2006 at Columbia Heights High

On the night of June 8th – Believe me, I’ll let out one last sigh!!

His future plans  include – Going to Mankato  State University  for college

Like most of his  peers, he’s undeclared – Hopefully he’ll study and gain some knowledge

I think he’s ready  for the U – And can truly work at that fast pace

But remember, he has  a mind of his own – Hopefully, he won’t just take up space!!

Happy Birthday Ellen!!

Happy 40th Birthday – The time truly does fly

We’ve shared so very much – It causes me to sigh

Grade school, high school –EvenCollege as room mates

We still love shopping together – One of our common traits!!

With Shayna and Andrew – You’re a wonderful stay at home mom

Easy going and athletic – With a PhD which you carry with aplomb

So dear friend, Happy Birthday – Making memories was so much fun

When it comes to sending boxes – Ellen, you’ll never be outdone!!

Happy Birthday

Love

Joe

Fridley Lions Presidents Column

The President is gone – But this column must be done

Lion Flora is in Florida– Down there having fun

First of all it’s important – That the thank you’s are seen

Many of us still work – With Lionism in between

We’re not all retired – With all that time on our hands

So a stroke or two helps – So we’ll answer the next demand

Thank you Kathy Linder – The newsletter is great

Although Steve comes to each meeting – And takes the credit for his mate

He says without his help – You’d be lost without a paddle

Something about a creek – With your feet you’d have to straddle

Thank you “Bulldog” – For the convention hospitality room

Bringing in the food and drink – For everyone to consume

Thank you Jimmy and Jan – For picking up the flowers for Clay

And thank you Clay and Mary Ellen – For the hard work every day

And thank you Lion Tim Fowler – For the items you donate

You keep the meetings interesting – Now your ego we’ll have to deflate

And thanks to all those Lions – Who regularly meetings attend

It’s a great way to stay involved – And even make a new friend!!

March Presidents Column Lion Bud lst Vice President

Do you remember your first meeting – Did you know anyone at all

Everyone shook your hand – And were pleasant if you recall

You didn’t know the procedure – And wondered what was going on

Then you volunteered for something – And into the club you were drawn

You began to get more involved – And got close friends within the club

You became the Lion Tamer – In stead of a wheel, you were the hub

Then you moved into the rotation – Now the experiences varied much

You were having fun and serving – With the many lives the club would touch

Now when you see a new member – Or maybe a member sponsored by you

You realize it’s important – That they get the very same view

Give them a reminder about meetings – Urging them to attend

Be understanding when they can’t – Above all, just be a friend

Get them more involved – So as a Lion they can grow

Some day they’ll be President – On this you never know

Many of the Past Presidents – Continue on to become Zone Chair

Unfortunately others disappear – It seems as though they don’t care

Remember when you were President – Reaching out for assistance from afar

Make a U Turn and reciprocate – A loyal Lion is who you are

Be like Lion’s all – Clay, Steve, Bull Dog and Hal

In different ways they’re involved – Always raising the clubs morale

Attend the meetings and get involved – Do what your time allows

The more Lions we have doing “a little” – Gets the job completed somehow!!
